A brief guide to the fictional settings of the Daughters of the People Series.

Institute for Early Cultural Studies (IECS)

Located in rural northeast Georgia in the United States.
Originally established as a school for the female children of mortal and immortal Daughters, the IECS grew to become the archival and research branch of the People. Rebecca Upton has served as its director since 1985.
The compound is heavily guarded and serves as a fallback position for the residents of nearby Tellowee, as well as housing the Oracle.

Sanctuary

The original refuge of the Seven Sisters, the Sanctuary’s exact location has been lost with time. Very little is known about it other than its place in the People’s history. Some believe it is merely a symbolic myth and not an actual locality.

Tellowee

Tellowee is the town adjacent to the Institute for Early Cultural Studies (IECS). The name is taken from the Cherokee language and loosely translates as “white oak grove.” The town grew from an earlier settlement established by a small band of immortal Daughters in Cherokee territory along the Colonial frontier.
Tellowee is a refuge of sorts for the People, particularly immortal Daughters who have a difficult time living in one area for long because of their apparent perpetual youth. Mortal Daughters have also settled in Tellowee to raise families and establish businesses that serve the entire community.

The Omega

The Omega is a bar located in Tellowee, the only one in that community. Run by Will Corbin, The Omega serves as a gathering place for the residents of Tellowee, particularly after work.
